So, I started out this year thinking I could read 100 books in 2012. Since that is insane and impossible at this point (especially with a novel to write as well), I’ve cut that number in half. 50 books sounds pretty attainable. Of course, I’m about 13 books behind according to Goodreads, but that sounds a lot better than 26.
I posted in January about the books I was looking forward to reading the most this year, and I’ve read a couple, been sidetracked by others, and lost interest in a few. *shrug* I tried reading The Pledge by Kimberly Derting, but I just couldn’t get into it. Might have been just too distracted, so I may come back to it later. I’m still in the middle of Walk Across the Sun and Sudan, and both are good so far, but school slammed me this summer and I set them aside temporarily for a few lighter reads.
Of the books that I hadn’t planned on reading, my most pleasant surprise was the Hunger Games trilogy. I was pretty resistant to reading them–it’s a long story–but after taking a teen friend to see the midnight premier of the movie, I totally fell in love. Enough has been written about those books I think, so you don’t need my review of the trilogy, but needless to say, I’ve been converted.
I was also unexpectedly blown away by Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein, which I’ll write about in a future post.
I’m going to actually start posting book reviews! I’m a noob at this, though, so your patience and forgiveness will be much appreciated.
In the mean time, if you want to see what I’m reading or how I’m doing on my Reading Challenge, find me on…
Saw this on Pinterest, it was too precious not to post!
